Bright Crayon Colors Coffee Cozy

Do you remember when you were mesmerized by Dick and Jane, and your biggest decision was whether to get the 16, 32 or 64 box of Crayolas®?  [We probably need to distinguish between crayons and Crayolas®; crayons are sticks of colored wax used for drawing or writing, and many companies make crayons.  Crayola® is the trademarked name of a particular brand of crayons.]

File this under “you learn something new every day” – the blue Crayola® ranks #1 in America’s Top 50 Colors.  Red comes in at #12, and Laser Lemon Yellow brings up the rear at #50 – bummer.

Well, now that we have that all straightened out, you can celebrate your inner child with these wonderful crayon-inspired items:

Who knew how many names there were for something that holds crayons.  All these items came just from July etsy listings under crayons: crayon wallet, crayon caddy, coloring wallet, crayon holder, crayon folio, travel crayon holder, crayon cozie, crayon pack, crayon pouch, doodle diddie, dine.n.doodle, roll.n.go, doodle noodles and finally, crayon roll:

There are some very interesting stories that accompany crayon items on etsy, some whimsical, some funny and some very personal:

And finally, if you are on facebook, you can even play “What Color Crayon are You?”  [I’m sure that’s what your parents had in mind when they hocked the farm to send you to college…]

  6. Colorful post!

As a child, my favorite was the 64 pack. It came with a built in sharpener. These days I rock the 96 pack! Color me fabulous 🙂

  8. Cute! Oh – I loved my Crayola’s when I was young! The greatest day was when I was old enough to get my own box of 64 with the sharpener.
Crayons still make me smile. I love coloring with my daughter now.

  9. Such memories you bring back! I still have an unopened box of 128 crayons stuck in a box somewhere that I bought as an adult because I don’t remember having it as a kid 😀
