Monday Morning Musings

I’ve been tagged! 7 things about me…

I officially got “tagged”  by Mikiye Creations.  At first, I didn’t know whether to hate her or love her, but really began to have fun once I got started.  First, the rules…

The Rules

1. Link to your tagger, and post these rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

So, here goes!

♥ The name Lois means “war maiden” in Gaelic.  I guess it must be true that children live up (or down) to their given names.  Now, I ask, “Does this precious, curly-haired sweetheart look like a war maiden to you?”

No, This is Not the Trojan Horse

♥ When I was about four or five years of age, I thought that I could hatch baby chickens from hard boiled eggs.  So, one morning right before Easter, I got up very early and proceeded to sit on my Easter basket – not understanding why no baby chicks hatched.  (Was I pitiful or what?)

♥ One day, when my mom was taking my sister, who is four years younger than I, and me to the pediatrician for our routine shots, I informed little sis that the doctor was going to stick the needle in one of her arms and pull it out the other.  And she believed me!  (See Mom do unhappy dance.)

♥  I cannot carry a tune, but I am not tone deaf  because I can hear that I am doing it wrong.

♥ I can make my bed while I am still in it.

♥ I asked my randomly fabulous friend, Marisa, for her input into this project.  And being randomly fabulous, she reminded me of my “minor TAB addiction.”  Yes, I am one of the few people I know who loves that delish cola in the pink can – with the exception, of course, of Marisa who rivals my self-proclaimed designation as the TAB Queen!

♥ For the final weird or random fact, I decided to ask my male offspring for the first thing that came to his mind in relation to random, weird and mom.  Without hesitating, he said that he would definitely have to go with my ashtray collection.  I told him that I didn’t see anything weird or random about it.  He told me that is why I needed an objective third party…

Ok, if he says so!  I currently have a collection of approximately 3,500 ashtrays, cigarette cases and boxes, lighters, smoking sets, old magazine ads, sheet music and many promotional pieces that were put out by various cigarette companies.  They live in my master bedroom, and I inhabit the west wing!  Their bathroom has the Jacuzzi and walk-in shower.  My goal is to one day curate an exhibit of the political, economical and social life of the 20th century as seen through these items.

I have recently begun building Reflections on an Ashtray Collection, a blog about – what else – my ashtray collection – complete with bibliography and exhibit categories:

Gott Mit Uns Cigarette Case and Matchbox Holder

Now that you know seven weird and random facts about me and haven’t run off screaming or called the attendants to take me back to the home, I am asking these fabulous bloganistas to participate – and tagging them – in alphabetical order!

  2. Hey, my mom and I had matching outfits. Weird, huh?

And what about those ashtrays living in the master bath? Gosh, I’d love to see them and the ads. In fact, I’m looking for one for a friend who has a winter designated smoking area.

I just might have to visit you.

  5. I would be honored to share the thrown with you! I am going to do some research and see what it takes to be officially appointed “Queens of Tab”.

  6. Many years ago, my mom made my sisters and I, as well as herself, matching peasant outfits in hot pink and purple. the blouses, which could be worn off the shoulder, were trimmed with rick-rack. I wonder if it was a “Chicago thing!”

  10. I tried to get an etsy account in order to request a custom scarf but can’t seem to verify it! I’m working on a Georgia Lottery commercial that shoots on Friday and we’re looking to have a custom (black and red thick yarn) scarf that is only 1/3 of the way finished to use as a prop (Grandma is knitting on the couch). Could you contact me via facebook (I just became a fan) if you are interested. We’re in Atlanta – Thanks so much! Jessica
