One World One Heart – Magic Carpet Ride

One World One Heart BadgeWelcome to Foxy G. Knits Den of i-KNiT-quity, located in Atlanta, GA, Stop #113 on your Magic Carpet Ride.  You will have an opportunity to enter a giveaway in just a few minutes, but first, let me give you a quick tour of Atlanta:

Atlanta is the home of Coca-Cola.  Coke is all they drink here, so don’t ask for any other soft drink unless it’s made by Coca-Cola.  Even if you want something other than a Coca-Cola, it’s still called Coke.

  • Our 8 AM rush hour runs from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m., and our 5 PM rush hour runs from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m. Friday’s rush hour begins on Thursday afternoon and lasts through 2 a.m. on Saturday.
  • “Fixinto” is one word: I’m fixinto go to the store.
  • Sweet Tea is appropriate for all meals, and you begin drinking it when you’re two years old.
  • “Jeet?” is actually a phrase meaning “Did you eat?”
  • No need to buy a ladder or mattress in Atlanta.  Just go to one of the Interstates, and you will soon find one in the middle of the road.
  • The falling of one raindrop causes all drivers to immediately forget all traffic rules.  If a single snowflake falls, the city is paralyzed for three days, and it’s on all the channels as a news flash every 15 minutes for a week.  Overnight, all grocery stores will be sold out of milk, bread, bottled water, toilet paper and beer.
  • If you have ever had the pleasure of having to change planes here in Atlanta, then you know that the gates at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport are about 32 miles away from the main concourse.  So wear sneakers, and pack a lunch.

Well, thanks for taking a little tour of our fair city.   Now for the giveaway…I want to be sure that you are warm enough, as well as stunning, on the rest of your magic carpet ride, so please feel free to enter to win this Luscious Lavender Wide Ruffle Scarf.  It was hand crocheted with love by my 90 ½ year old mammalicious.

Lavender Scarf Giveaway

This Magic Carpet Ride has become dizzifying.   (And if that’s not in your Funk & Wagnell, I just made it up!)  There has been such a wonderful response, that I am adding a second giveaway – another large ruffle scarf hand crocheted by mamalicious.  This one is red and purple:

Ruffle Scarf

I’m back – with yet another scarf to add to the giveaway.  This should greatly increase your odds of winning!

To be eligible, you need only to leave a comment below.  I’d love for you to leave your blog url so that others can visit your site.  If you would like to leave your facebook biz page url or twitter tag, I would be happy to fan you and/or follow you.

This giveaway will begin January 25, 2009 and end on February 14, 2009 at 11:59 pm EST. The winners will be announced on February 15, 2009. will be used to pick the winners, and they will have 72 hours to get back to me.

  5. You sound as fond of Atlanta as I am of NYC. I think it is the problems (big and small) that give a city its character. And having to deal with those problems on a daily basis, gives a city’s people their energy and sense of humor! Mama’s scarf is gorgeous!

    Comment by Suzanne@threepeats — 01/25/2010 @ 7:37 am

  6. See, this is why I loved visiting Atlanta. So much like my beloved Texas homeland! The friendly, hydrophobic populace, the snow panic, the inexplicable furnished highways! ‘Cept here, “coke” is Dr.Pepper, Mr. Pibb will get you spat on, and sweet tea is an Eastern thing, and easily avoided. Oh, and of course one snowflake means that the stores will be deserted, because no one’s goin’ out, because the last time we had serious snow, Santa Anna attacked our forts. So there’s precedent for staying home. ;P

That scarf is amazing, proof age grants skill! One Warm World, darlin’!:D

  128. these are absolutely gorgeous!!! I would SO love to win one of these!

hehehe your post was SO funny! I am an American with Southern roots living in Canada and so I totally loved your post! Another one I’ve heard as a joke is a guy is sitting on the couch and he tells his wife in the kitchen: Honey, you so sensuous. And “since you is up”, please get me a coke! I don’t think I have to explain this one to you — but here just in case some didn’t get it (hard to do the accent via internet) sensous=since you is up (w/southern accent).

Come visit me at 277 —-

  158. Loved the description of Atlanta – sad but true! The give-aways are looking good, too. There is one other item of note about Atlanta: be prepared to have several flat tires every year due to all the s..t falling off of the pick up trucks that everyone drives…nails, screws, construction materials all over the roads and stuck on your tires.

    Comment by Alice — 01/27/2010 @ 9:21 pm

  159. LOLOL…I love the scarves and your little story. I’m actually from Texas and “fixinto” is definitely one word…LOL! Also “coke” is for any soft drink out there. Yes and you’d think that “us” Southerners would be use to the rain, but NOOOOOO, everyone seems to think it’s something new…LOL! Well I’ve moved and now live in Las Vegas, NV. where people are transplanted from ALL over the world so you can only imagine the drivers out here!…sigh! Thanks for the great giveaway!

  194. Atlanta must be my hubby’s DREAM city! Coca Cola is his guilty pleasure, morning, noon and night. It annoys him when a restaurant or store only offers Pepsi. We actually pack several 2 liter bottles of caffein free diet coke in the car on road trips. The point is – people want what they really love and I LOVE your scarves. Crocheting is something that I so want to learn. One craft that my two left hands have just not let me learn…or is that my two left brains…no no lefties think with their right side so it much be the hands..hehe!! The scarves are all beautiful…please put my name in the hat.

This is my first year of doing the OWOH and I am discovering that there are some awesome artist, people and places out there. I guess I should get out of the studio more often and fly around. ^_^

    Enjoy the ride,

  323. It has been very cold outside, today. So drinking hot tea and visiting your blog was a very nice experience. I also visited your etsy store: The colours of your scarves are so beautiful.
I would like to win one of the scarves of your give away – they are beautiful. I would be very proud to wear one. 😉

  329. Your scarves are really delicious! I’d love to have one keeping my neck from getting the chills. I wear them when I’m making beads out in my cold studio in the winter time – despite the fact that I live in California. Some days it’s in the low 50’s out there, much too cold to expose my neck! Thanks for including me in your drawing – stop by and visit me if you haven’t already done so! (#125)
